The noise is possibly in the cable and you may just have to replace it. The other thing is that the speedo gear may be worn and if so a new seal won't keep it from leaking with replacing the gear too. Sometimes it's easy to overlook that one. There is also a seal or o-ring on the inside diameter of the plug to seal the speedo gear shaft. Never did it if it was in the garage.Īs Buzzard suggested, if you have a converter drainback deal, the oil still has to come out somewhere. Got a recently rebuilt turbo 350 trans with a manual valve body and 2400 stall converter. The pan gasket is tight but not too tight and the front seal is dry. turbo 350, Turbo 400, 700R4, 4L60E and many other GM transmissions. I have replaced the back seal and it does not seem to be leaking around the "O" ring for the dip stick. Only thing is when I drive it and put it back into the garage it will start leaking but not until after a few days of setting. When I restored the frame I replaced all seals and gaskets on the transmission before I put the body back on. I have a 350 turbo in my 57 hardtop and it works perfectly.
